Sashar | If Astrology became main stream and widely accepted by the scientific community, what is the worst that could happen? Some of the most influential and helpful things created or discovered by people also have some of the most negative down sides and possible side effects. I'm curious as to what you can see happening in this hypothetical world where Astrology is not only accepted but used almost solely for mal intent. ------------------ Astrology Activism: The constant strive to not just learn the intricate details of Astrology but the desire to constantly find new ways to prove that it exists in a scientific manner. Failure to incorporate the later into your work is akin to learning how to cure cancer but not sharing it with anyone. |

Wanted to add my own thoughts, but don't want to taint anyone's ideas yet. I'm SERIOUSLY interested and excited in where you go with this. =D

Capriquarius | People will still continue to argue over which astrology to use, what orbs are allowable, etc Stock market trends will amplify. Religion was a driving force behind technological developments throughout history. In an attempt to attain astrological data and precision, more funds will be invested into astrology with the aim of monetary gain and in the process someone will accidentally discover the cure to cancer and birth defects. Yay. And then the investors will somehow find a way to charge the populace for this knowledge that should be freely accessible to all. Double freakin yay. |
Sashar | In this horrible world, where Astrology is used as a weapon... First and foremost would be stereotyping people. I mean really, give a person a way to stereotype and feel superior to other people and they'll take it. (Which is of course completely missing the point). I can see a caste system in place upon birth, people born with certain aspects being raised specifically for certain types of jobs. Ever watch Gattaca? Like that, only not with genetic engineering. The most destructive force I could see is the people who learn just enough to be dangerous but not enough to actually know what they're talking about. ------------------ Astrology Activism: The constant strive to not just learn the intricate details of Astrology but the desire to constantly find new ways to prove that it exists in a scientific manner. Capriquarius | ^ a caste system didn't arise from the Human Genome Project. Astrology was accepted as fact in ancient India but it's not what the caste system was based on. People want to fill their pockets in order to feel superior. |

XD I'm just imagining a worst case scenario. Not necessarily things that are likely to happen, but rather just something really bad that could happen using Astrology as the tool. ------------------ Astrology Activism: The constant strive to not just learn the intricate details of Astrology but the desire to constantly find new ways to prove that it exists in a scientific manner. inthemisosoup | People would/could use their chart/transits as justification for bad decisions. It would only amplify the trend in the world right now (at least where I live) that no one is responsible for their own actions and everyone is a helpless victim. Except with astrology everyone would be "a helpless victim of karma." Gross. |
Desiring Shadows | Lol. A lot of manipulation/scandals. Nobody would be themselves, they would be the traits they liked most; now that they have knowledge of them all. They would probably choose better partners and treat it like a religion. I would actually very much like to see this happen. Lol ----------------------------- "I shut my eyes in order to see." Aquacheeka | I think this sort of widespread acceptance of astrology could be dangerous, very dangerous. The potential for misuse is astronomical. People will use signs to stratify people - think "The Hunger Games" but real. District 12 - Pisceans District 1 - Ariens (no pun intended ) Arranged marriage based on synastry (note: this is a common practise in India right now).
I'd almost prefer it as it is, with us quietly learning from each other in order to avoid judgment or the stigma. I should add that I think all of the above is typical of human nature. Try as I might, I have had hesitance when meeting people of certain sun signs - and I should know better! I'm no newb! What about the whole chart? What about the potential to channel even the most challenging aspect or trait in a positive direction? Energy is potential; you can do with it what you want. |
Aquacheeka | Great question, by the way. |

Is arranged marriage better when not based on synastry? |
